Description

Are Entrepreneurs Born or Made?

Let’s find out together from Dexter Ligot-Gordon, founder of Swarm -- the social network for tech fractional workers.

Prior to Swarm, he was co-founder at Kalibrr, the first-ever company based in Southeast Asia accepted to Silicon Valley's Y Combinator program.

Why this topic?

There is no straightforward answer to our “nature vs nurture” question on becoming an entrepreneur but Dexter during the fireside chat will give his answer, including founder lessons that are practical and shaped by his experiences:

  • What did he think his role in the entrepreneurial process would be in the beginning?

  • What are the personal characteristics that allowed him to embrace entrepreneurship and continues to this day?

  • Entrepreneurship is about managing risks around your “North Star” – what enabled him as a startup founder to manage risks and what can founders learn from him?

Join us on April 27th (Thursday):

  • 5:00 PM, Doors open to in-person guests, raiding the Kickstart fridge begins!
  • 7:30 PM, Start of talk for in-person and online guests
  • 8:30 PM, End of talk, networking resumes
  • 10:00 PM, End of Raid The Fridge

As always, Raid The Fridge is a community learning and networking event for the Philippine startup community – hope to see you!

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dexter Ligot-Gordon, Founder & CEO, Swarm
2x startup founder | YC W13 | UC Berkeley ‘03 | Born and raised in the US

There are two things you need to know about Dexter: he designs his own barongs, and he cares about making products that solve important problems for people.

Dexter is the CEO and co-founder of Swarm, where tech professionals launch and manage their fractional careers, and where founders can hire top tier tech consultants.

His career spans technology, public service, and policy-- all of which converge into his domain focus in the Future of Work and Education.

Dexter co-founded and led product, design, and engineering for Kalibrr, the first company from the Philippines to get into Y Combinator. Being a pioneer was both a source of pride and a challenge—to build an ecosystem of talent, funding, and technology around the budding company.

Before entering into tech, served on the Board of Regents of the University of California, and sought to expand access to education and mobility in the workplace. He has a background in Workforce Policy and Education Policy.

Dexter loves to mentor up-and-coming young entrepreneurs, and to learn from tech and product leaders across the globe.
